Minimum Sessions Policy
At The Nestlings Kindergarten, we believe regular attendance is important for children to feel secure, build strong relationships and fully benefit from their time with us.
Our minimum attendance requirements are:
-
Children aged 2: a minimum of 3 sessions across at least 2 days per week.
-
Children aged 3 and over: a minimum of 5 sessions across at least 3 days per week.
A morning or afternoon counts as one session, and a full day counts as two sessions.
Why do we have minimum sessions?
Young children thrive on familiarity and consistency. Regular attendance helps children to:
-
build secure relationships with their key person and other adults;
-
develop friendships and feel part of the group;
-
become familiar and confident with routines and the environment;
-
settle more successfully, particularly when first joining us; and
-
experience continuity in their play, learning and development.
Very limited or irregular attendance can make it harder for children to settle and can mean that a significant amount of their time is spent readjusting to the setting after gaps between sessions.
As children reach 3, friendships, sustained play, group experiences and continuity of learning become increasingly important. For this reason, our minimum attendance increases to 5 sessions across 3 days.
